Austin Fruchter

Meet Austin

Founder & Managing Partner

Previous Role: GM of Total Records (family business)

Austin was fortunate to grow up in his family's 40+‑year‑old document storage business, Total Records. His first jobs - shuffling boxes in the warehouse during brutal summers and delivering them by the hundred across the tri‑state area - taught him the real‑world challenges of running a small company: motivating employees, nurturing customer relationships, and keeping operations running smoothly when surprises arise.

After earning a degree in Systems Engineering from George Washington University in Washington, DC, Austin joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a management consultant while staying involved in the family business's sales efforts. Austin ultimately returned to Total Records full‑time as the General Manager, leading a hands‑on transformation that saw the business grow substantially while profitability tripled. Over three years, he overhauled core operations, strengthened client retention and new sales, and built a collaborative culture - culminating in a successful sale to a large international competitor.

Following the sale, Austin joined Broad Creek Capital, a family office, to sharpen his investment skills. While he valued the team and diversity of deals, he realized he missed being an operator. After some time with the family office, he started a 2 year program at business school where he quickly learned about acquisition entrepreneurship and found his calling where he could get back to running a business.

Austin was born in Suffern, NY, and raised in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Since leaving New Jersey, he has lived in Exeter, NH, Washington, DC, and NYC, where he now resides with his girlfriend, Tali, a medical student at NYITCOM. A lifelong athlete, Austin played competitive ice hockey from the age of 4 through college, competing in youth and boarding school leagues before playing club in college. Now a retired, washed-up hockey player, he loves the outdoors and takes every possible chance to go on a hike or ski down a new mountain. In his downtime he can be found reading a new book - some recent recommendations include Project Hail Mary, Material World, and Starter Villain.

Rohit Datta

Meet Rohit

Founder & Managing Partner

Previous Role: Co-Founder/CEO of Formspree

Rohit grew up in a family that had operated a business in the tea industry for decades across multiple generations. Through countless family dinner conversations about the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship, he developed both a deep respect for business ownership and a determination to run his own company someday.

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a dual major in Computer Science and Finance, he joined Apple as a Software Engineer II. At Apple, Rohit built cloud infrastructure supporting billions of devices across many of Apple's flagship products, including iMessage, Apple Maps, and Apple News. While he enjoyed working on large, complex products at Apple, he came to realize that he wanted to build something of his own.

Acting on this entrepreneurial itch, Rohit co-founded Formspree, a software platform that allowed website developers to add working forms to their sites with a single line of code. When COVID struck, Formspree became a lifeline for thousands of small businesses needing to communicate with their customers online. As CEO, Rohit managed all aspects of the business across engineering, marketing, and operations, ultimately growing the platform to serve over 1 million customers—from neighborhood corner stores to Fortune 500 companies including UPS, Walmart, and IBM.

After stepping back from Formspree, Rohit enrolled in business school to deepen his business acumen. It was there he discovered acquisition entrepreneurship and recognized it as the perfect opportunity to combine his operational experience with his lifelong passion for business ownership.

Born and raised in Darien, CT, Rohit has since lived in Austin, TX, San Francisco, CA, and New York City. A competitive swimmer since elementary school, he's now channeled that same discipline into skiing and running, currently training for the 2025 NYC Marathon. He's also an avid photographer, capturing his adventures across America's national parks.

Together

Austin and Rohit first met during their initial month at Columbia Business School, where they both served on the board of the Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) Club. What started as shared club responsibilities quickly evolved into a close friendship, though their professional journeys initially diverged—Rohit explored venture capital while Austin dove deeper into ETA and gained hands-on experience at a search fund-acquired company.

Throughout their first year at school, they built a close shared friend group and spent much of their free time together. They took weekend trips to Upstate New York for fresh air and more extended trips across the globe: Peru, where Rohit captured Austin on camera taking a bite from an alpaca; Jackson Hole, where their final day of skiing was shut down by 30 inches of snow in 24 hours; and St. Anton, where they realized just how much better skiing is anywhere in the world but the Northeast.

As their friendship deepened through these experiences, they discovered shared values that extended far beyond the classroom. They frequently discussed their respective career paths—despite Rohit's best efforts, Austin confirmed his complete lack of interest in the venture capital model, while Austin slowly convinced Rohit that acquiring and running a small business could be pretty awesome. Over time, they realized that they both wanted to pursue roles that required hands-on operations, building winning teams for the long-term, and the challenge of growing established businesses.

Their natural working relationship and deep interest in acquisition entrepreneurship led them to co-lead the ETA Club in their second year, where they approached the role as a practical test of their partnership. Under their joint leadership, club membership doubled and programming tripled, demonstrating their ability to work together effectively while achieving measurable results.

After many conversations over the summer of 2024, Austin and Rohit decided to partner up and pursue acquisition entrepreneurship together, forming Arch Legacy Partners. The decision felt natural—combining Austin's operational turnaround experience with Rohit's technical scaling expertise to find and grow one exceptional business together.
